Garam masala is a blend of ground spices common in North Indian and other South Asian cuisines. A typical Indian version of garam masala contains: black and white peppercorns, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, black and green cardamom pods, bay leaf, cumin and star anise. You can easily make your own mixture, or you can buy it from Spar.
